Nurse Practitioner Student Intern

Position Summary

Lifepath Center is currently accepting applications for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) student intern to gain immersive, hands-on clinical experience in a community-based room and board facility. This internship is ideal for NP students interested in psychiatric-mental health and seeking real-world training in therapeutic services with high-need populations.

Interns will provide therapeutic support to individuals, couples, and families while strengthening clinical documentation skills, building therapeutic rapport, and participating in supervision focused on skill development. This placement provides rich exposure to psychosocial assessments, SOAP note documentation, and therapeutic engagement. Clinical supervision is provided in accordance with academic requirements by licensed professionals.

Job Type: Internship / Practicum Placement (Supervision Provided)

Program Fee: $1,700 (covers supervision, training, and administrative support)

Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly face-to-face client contact in a room and board facility.

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and formulate treatment plans.

  • Deliver individual, family, and couples therapy under clinical supervision.

  • Observe and assess therapy sessions through recorded audio and video (when available).

  • Complete clinical documentation using the SOAP format in compliance with site standards.

  • Participate in clinical supervision, case consultations, and training activities.

  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and uphold agency values of respect, inclusion, and integrity.

Minimum Requirements

Enrollment in a Nurse Practitioner Program

Must be currently enrolled in an NP program (PMHNP preferred) through an accredited institution.

Field Placement Approval

Must be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an:
ASW (Associate Clinical Social Worker).

Registration number must be active and in good standing.

Commitment

Able to commit to a minimum of 5-15 hours per week during the placement term (depending on your clinical program requirements)

 

Transportation

Reliable transportation for on-site sessions and occasional travel between program sites.

Clinical Readiness

Foundational understanding of therapeutic practices and willingness to engage in skill-building.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in psychiatric-mental health and therapy with underserved populations.

  • Familiarity with SOAP notes, biopsychosocial assessments, and basic diagnostic criteria.

  • Comfortable working in structured and semi-structured environments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
